Who Needs Sleep???

Ever since Jeremy and I got home from Traverse City last weekend (my parents stayed with Emerson), Emerson has not been sleeping well. We've tried a whole lot of things to make the situation better, but the upshot has been a lot of sleepless nights and bleary-eyed mornings. As far as I can tell, Emerson is not cutting any new teeth, nor is she sick with any of the gunk that is going around. She usually doesn't have a problem sleeping an eight hour stretch or more, but now.....she's been getting up every couple of hours. We've tried rocking, feeding and simply letting her power through. We are hoping that she will snap out of this and return to the good sleeper she once was. Until then...any advice????

Princess Pea

For Emerson's birthday, her Aunt Heather and Uncle Ross gave her a gift card for one of our favorite stores-Tip Toes! When I saw their advertisement on Facebook for new, reasonably priced tutu's, I knew Emerson needed to have one. I know it's a slightly impractical purchase, but it's so much fun!

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we braved the cold (but sunny!) weather and went to see Gene the Pumpkin Man. This was Emerson's first trip to Gene, since Jeremy and I went last year right before she was born. Emerson loves pumpkins. Her favorite thing to do is touch them!

Out on a Limb

So, we put our house on the market yesterday. It's bittersweet. I have lived in this house since 2004 and it holds lots of memories. We decided to give it a shot though, and see if anyone might be interested. Who knows.....maybe the right person will come through!! Until then, we will enjoy our time in the house and try to prepare ourselves for what might come next!

My little princess turned one this weekend! So hard to believe that a whole year has gone by. We are so very grateful for our little girl!

Love With a Side of Cupcakes

This past weekend we celebrated Emerson's birthday with Jeremy's family and some close friends. Emerson had a blast. She really enjoyed every minute--especially getting to be around the "big kids". Thanks to everyone for helping make her day special!!

Since Emerson is currently really into Curious George, it was an easy pick for the theme. We ordered in special cupcakes and cookies for the occasion. (Wish I could take the credit, but I can't.)

Standing Still

As Emerson approaches her first birthday, all that I can ever think about is how fast the last year flew by. I remember exactly where I was last year at this time.....eagerly awaiting the birth of my daughter.

Emerson continues to amaze me everyday. She is working on standing up and part of me can't wait for her to figure everything out and take her first steps. The other part of me wants to keep her a little baby--at least for a little while longer!!

This weekend we embark on what I call "Birthday Central". Emerson has a party with Jeremy's family and some close friends this weekend and next weekend we are off to Chicago to to celebrate with my family. After that we have my mom's birthday, my birthday, and then all of Jeremy's sister's as well as my sister have birthday's in the weeks that follow. Lots of birthday parties to say the least!

It seems so strange to me that all the months that I was pregnant seemed to slowly drag by, yet the minute Emerson arrived, things shifted into warp speed. It is my goal each day to try and make the little things count. I hope to never take the days for granted. I don't want to miss a thing!
