Dreamer

Recently Emerson has had a thing with climbing--on chairs, on couches, you name it! We spent the weekend with my parents and Emerson had a great time playing on the window seat in my childhood bedroom. I loved watching her in the same spot where I, myself, have spent lots of hours dreaming.

Double Time

This week were Winter Conference's at school, which means extra hours for me. Jeremy had Emerson for a much longer time alone. While being able to meet with some of my students and their families is very helpful, it also causes me to be an absent parent. I got home right at bedtime (or later) and I missed out on sweet Emerson kisses. I am making up for lost time this weekend though---lots of fun on the agenda as well as kisses!

Spending some quality time with Daddy.

Happy Heart Day!

I don't get into the actual holiday that the rest of the world is celebrating today, but I do love the decor. Hearts, hearts, hearts. Pink ones, purple ones, red ones, white ones.

The little girl who has stolen my heart.

Jesus in Your Heart?

This was sent to me via email recently and I thought it was cute:

A little boy approaches a pastor and politely says, “Excuse me, sir?" To which the pastor replied, "Yes?" then bent down to the boys level on one knee. "You said everyone should have Jesus in their hearts, right?" the boy asked, uncomfortably playing with his untucked shirt.

"That's right, son," the pastor replied. "Does He live in your heart?"

"Well, I'd like Him to," the boy said, nervously. "But I keep thinking Jesus is a big tall man and I'm so little, He's just too big – He's just gonna stick out all over!"

It reminds me of the Jars of Clay song "Faith Like A Child." Oh, to always be able to see things so simply---through the eyes of a child. I wonder what it would be like if I could do this more often.

Bookworm

Lately Emerson has been wanting to get up in her big girl chair and read books. She has kept herself occupied there for a long time considering her short attention span. Some of her favorites at the moment are Duck and Goose 123 and Moo, Baa, LaLaLa. Maybe she's tapping into her profound love of reading and will end up enjoying it as much as her mom!

Homegrown

Back in high school, I was friends with a guy I, like lots of other people, really looked up to. The all around "nice guy". One of his dreams was to make it big. Over the years, I remember listening to him sing in coffee shops and on college campuses.

No one ever doubted that he would achieve success. We were excited when he made himself a household name in Christian music back a few years ago. Last night though, I was ecstatic to know that Matthew West, our hometown hero, ambled down the RED CARPET at the Grammy Awards.

Although he lost to Third Day, we couldn't be prouder! Please check out Matt's website at www.MatthewWest.com to learn more about this awesome musician.
