A Day at the Fair

Although Jeremy and I never make it a habit to be around during the Fair, we thought Emerson might enjoy going this year. We made our rounds of the animal barns, with the donkeys being a favorite, and then walked through the ride area. Em was still too short to ride any of them this year, but she had a good time watching the big kids. The sights and sounds of the fair were totally new to Emerson, and she enjoyed every minute!

Watching the ducks get a drink.

Hanging out with Daddy.

Riding the lawn mower--always a favorite!

Taking it all in.

Dinnertime Drama

The only real parenting issue that we've had a hard time with so far has been food. Even early on, we had a hard time getting Emerson to take a bottle. The battle with food has continued. Emerson is a picky eater and she's also a "love it for a moment" eater. Her likes and dislikes concerning food seem to change by the day. Chicken nuggets for lunch on Monday--loved them. Offer them again Wednesday--screw up her face and scream in disgust. Dinnertime often requires lot of patience as well as a the use of the broom and mop!

This is the look we get when headed into mealtime.

Followed closely afterward by kicking, flailing about and clamping her mouth shut, depending on the meal.

After some bargaining, usually involving chips, Emerson will eat her meal with much coaxing. There are lots of hugs and kisses afterward.

Each Night

The summer days are moving fast and we are trying to take advantage of every moment. After dinner, when we ask Emerson what she would like to do, her response most nights is "Beach!" So off we go...often with good friends. I think we are all so content with this season known as Summer.

Enjoying the sand and sun in a hole that Daddy dug especially for them!

Simple Pleasures

One of Emerson's new favorite spots is the tunnel that leads down to the beach at Tunnel Park. When you ask her if she wants to go, her eyes light up and she says "Tunnel??!!", like it's the best thing ever. It's hard not to want to grant her every wish. Luckily for her, we live close enough to go almost everyday.

Emerson in her glory--running back and forth in the tunnel.
