Jeremy left very early Saturday morning on a mission trip to South Dakota. He will be gone until Sunday. Emerson and I spent the long weekend at my mom's and my dad is coming to stay with me for a couple days. Even with those distractions......we miss Daddy! Before he left, Jeremy filmed himself reading Emerson's "Going to Bed" book. Tonight when we got to watch it, she was so excited! We are counting the days till we can see him in person.
It's been so hot around here this week that Emerson and I haven't done a whole lot. Ran a couple errands, ate some new food, played a LOT, worked on crawling.........As much as I love the warm weather, I am looking forward to a bit of a cool down so we can do more things outside.
Emerson working on her crawling.Last weekend, when the torrential rains hit, we were at my mom's house in Chicago. The storms hit there first, mainly with lots of high wind damage, and then proceeded to pummel the lakeshore with gallons and gallons of rain. We were one of the lucky houses, only a little bit of water(enough that a couple beach towels soaked it up). However, our street was not so lucky. There is a creek that runs under our street about three houses down. Needless to say, with the deluge of water, the creek overflowed (under the street!) and caused the road to break. All that is left is a huge hole filled with sand, trees and gravel. Since Friday, we have had many visitors walking down our street just to get a better look. We have also had news crews parked by the hole, and LOTS of people ignoring the "road closed" signs and trying to drive down our street anyways. The road is closed for a reason!!!
When I met my husband, we each had our own places. Jeremy owned a studio condo and I owned a three bedroom house. So naturally, when we got married, he moved into my house. Since then, the condo has had a couple renters and has been on and off the market for about two years.
Anyone who knows us, knows that we do not love being landlords. We have wanted, almost more than anything, to sell the condo. It has been on the top of our prayer lists for a LONG time. Each time we have a showing, we cross our fingers and enlist friends and family to pray. Each time we get that phone call telling us what the potential buyer thought was wrong with the place. Until Thursday..........
We got a phone call from our wonderful realtor with an offer!!! It was almost too good to be true. The couple really liked it and even put down earnest money. Talk about a weight off our shoulders. We should close by August.
I have tried to take everything in stride these last couple years. However, I must say, I have definitely learned a little more about the saying "in His time". Sometimes it's so hard to let go and give it to God. Lesson learned!
We are excited to now look towards the next step for us.....putting our house on the market sometime soon! We have dreams of a little more space for our growing family. (I have dreams of a playroom for Emerson!)
Eight months ago today, you were born. It went by so fast! We love you, Princess!
Emerson Grace, 8 monthsOne of my favorite stores in the area is Tip Toes. They have some of the cutest clothes and "one of a kind" finds. Every month they choose a new child to feature in their newsletters. The child of the month gets 25% off their purchases all month long! I have been meaning to bring a picture of Emerson to display on their board, but whenever I am in the store, I find myself pictureless...until the other day!
I submitted Emerson's picture, only to find out that on the day you submit your child's picture, you get 15% off all your purchases! I wish I had known that BEFORE I made my selections! That piece of information would have made it easier to justify buying more cute stuff. Now I have just another excuse to go back. If you're in the Holland area, be sure to check out Tip Toes!

I am so excited for my first summer as a mom. I am blessed not to have to work during the summer months. This summer is the longest on record....and each and every day I will spend with my princess. My mom said that we are going to be like Thelma and Louise--attatched at the hip. It sounds pretty wonderful to me!
